wilton course I

My friend Mary & I just completed Wilton Decorating Cake Class Course I.

I've learned that cake decorating....

is NOT easy,
it takes a LOT of time,
is VERY messy,
uses LOTS of fats (shortening, butter, cake),
and is VERY fun.


I'm laughing out loud as I look at these pictures becuase they are so lame. Don't expect anything amazing from me in the 'cake' department, but if you do want to see some amazing cakes...check out my friend's cake blog here.

    Is there any talent you aren't AMAZING at??? Seriously when do you find the time? I am so impressed at all you accomplish. Your cakes are adorable...and yes I agree cakes are very messy to make! Keep up the great work!

    It looks great Skye! Love the pink roses for Spring. And the green looks just fine in the picture! :0) Here is a website you may want to check out. robin egg blue dresser

The toy/sewing/exercise/office room is where the majority of our time is spent throughout the day, and I hated looking at that ugly dresser (see below). After long hours of sanding, priming, painting, sanding, and staining...it is now my favorite part of the room. This dresser has earned it's way to be here and I'll tell you why. her playhouse

I saw this playhouse first at homemade by jill (see her flickr group here ), then found a few others here , and knew it would be the perfect gift for my baby girl's first birthday. She loves crawling in and out of the door and doghouse then peeking out of each window. The flowers aren't in view, but she carries them around along with her growing veggies and apples from the tree. I had so much fun making it. It was like drawing with fabric....and I love to color, although I think I'm better at sewing it then actually drawing it. If you decide to make one...I'd love to see your playhouse. Mine fits over our dining room table (which barely seats 4) but most are made to cover a card table. I just measured the table, cut out each side, sewed on each side, then put it all together. The windows were a little tricky just because that plastic is kind of hard to sew with, but I just put paper underneath it so it would slide on the sewing machine, then riped it out when it

all the stockings were hung

I FINISHED!!! I'm so excited how they turned out. Yes, they are copycat from Garnet Hil [see below], but when they charge $50 per stocking you can't blame me right? I love sewing with felt. Every time I do it I have so much fun. It's like painting a picture with my bernina.
