her playhouse

I saw this playhouse first at homemade by jill (see her flickr group here), then found a few others here, and knew it would be the perfect gift for my baby girl's first birthday. She loves crawling in and out of the door and doghouse then peeking out of each window. The flowers aren't in view, but she carries them around along with her growing veggies and apples from the tree. I had so much fun making it. It was like drawing with fabric....and I love to color, although I think I'm better at sewing it then actually drawing it. If you decide to make one...I'd love to see your playhouse. Mine fits over our dining room table (which barely seats 4) but most are made to cover a card table. I just measured the table, cut out each side, sewed on each side, then put it all together. The windows were a little tricky just because that plastic is kind of hard to sew with, but I just put paper underneath it so it would slide on the sewing machine, then riped it out when it was done. Very fun! Right now...it's full of a bazillion toys....in my dining room.

    you made it!! if i could check off my "to do" lists as fast you, it would really be something! i don't remember details when we looked at the other one, but i like yours better, seems brighter and bigger...it turned out darling! and that little aliza is just as cute. can't believe she's one!! again, WOW, you have some serious talent!

    When I saw this on Homemade by Jill I thought it was really really cute too! But to actually tackle a project like that and make it ...at home ...by yourself ...with three little ones, WOW! WOW! WOW! Are you accepting Master Card, Visa Debit Card, cash, check or what because I WANT ONE!!! ha ha! You are so talented Skye!!! Where do you find the time for all your awesome, very time consuming projects??? I want to be more like you!!! Oh and by the way, while you're taking orders, I'd like a felt quiet book from her website too please! Thanks!

robin egg blue dresser

The toy/sewing/exercise/office room is where the majority of our time is spent throughout the day, and I hated looking at that ugly dresser (see below). After long hours of sanding, priming, painting, sanding, and staining...it is now my favorite part of the room. This dresser has earned it's way to be here and I'll tell you why. My sweet husband wasn't very anxious for me to get started on this because I think he thought that HE would end up sanding, priming, and painting, but I'm happy to say that I did it all, minus the hardware placement! And...I bought a lighter paint than this and once it was time to paint, I knew it wouldn't work so I had to return it and go darker. My husband was rolling his eyes. Then...after cleaning the brushes in our upstairs laundry sink, I left the tube hanging out of the sink that drains the washer. I started a load of laundry and headed downstairs. Thirty minutes later, we noticed water dripping from the dining room light fixt...

new sewing table

Someday....I will have a sewing room that is JUST for sewing. It will be filled with fabric, ribbon, thread, buttons, and more. I dream of a white sewing table, white cupboards for storage from wall to wall, cute boxes for organizing my unlimited supplies, painted walls of Robin egg blue with accents of lime green, and hard wood floors (to save my vacuum ). Someday.... For now...I love my new white sewing table (card table), storage underneath, my unlimited supply of thread, and accents of lime green (other accents include a treadmill, the computer desk, millions of toys, baby gear, etc). This is ' my place ' to create!
