february challenge

Love challenge: personal love note envelopes
Fabric: Midwest Modern by Amy Butler (the fat eights that I won here).
Pattern: Mine. Coming soon.
Other finished projects by you:
Teresa (private blog, but family can check it out)
(Teresa is adding a fun new twist on this challenge and I love it. Her challenges each month are going to focus on service. January:her family made fleece blankets for a homeless shelter & February: her family made sugar cookies to surprise some neighbors. Very creative!)

Valentine's Day was awhile ago, but my Valentine was in a different country most of the month of love. It was also our 7-yr Anniversary during his absence.

So...while he was away, all we could do was write love notes through email and chat a bit on the phone. I've always loved getting notes and wanted to make it extra special for those I love the most.

Stitches in Thailand & Vietnam

I spent the last two weeks vacationing in Thailand and Vietnam.  They are both incredibly beautiful places and I loved seeing a different part of the world.  The landscapes were full of lush greenery, rice patties, and an occasional wild elephant was spotted.  My favorite part was "trekking" with the elephants along a jungle path to a water hole where we were able to bath and scrub two giant elephants.  I also got to feed them and their little baby.  Truly a highlight of my life.   Another highlight for me is getting to see the talents and skills done in needlework and sewing from other cultures. I'm usually the only one taking pictures of these kinds of things.  I love seeing the fabric they use and the cultural influence in their creations.  I learned about a village of women who created these items after learning to sew.  With the skills they now have, they are able to stay at home with their children and with their income they ar...

I started when I was six months pregnant and now she is six-months-old, but I think I'm done. fabric covered canvas from extra quilt blocks Aliza's blessing dress made by my Mom cute hook board found at HL (Hobby Lobby) with green paper placed in center with Modge Podge the crib bedding made in Amy Butler's Midwest Modern fabric and the quilt is a pattern from Denyse Schmidt there is also a green and white polka dot cork board on the wall covered lamp shade, and my favorite thing in her room is the green vase with pink gerber's pillow made with another extra quilt block fabric tote from pattern of Amy Butler's CD case in her "In Stitches" book. And to think I doubted using pink.
